Bryce Ives

Bryce Ives is a freelance theatre director and media producer.

He directed Disney's BEAUTY AND THE BEAST and THE WITCHES OF EASTWICK for the Geelong Lyric Theatre Company; YOU'RE A GOOD MAN, CHARLIE BROWN for Melbourne Musicals; A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM for the Ballarat Begonia Festival; ONCE ON THIS ISLAND for Westbourne Grammar School, TANGLED UP IN BLUE, THE BLACK BOOK and KAREN for Theatre Movement. He most recently directed the Australian Premiere of CALL GIRL THE MUSICAL starring Tracy Harvey and Alan Fletcher. His next project will be directing Alan Bennett's THE HISTORY BOYS at Cromwell Road Theatre in July.

Recognised nationally as one of Australia's leading youth media makers, in 2004 The Australian Newspaper commented, "Ives represents a generational shift in how media is being produced and managed" and that he is a "mover and shaker in the youth media world."

Bryce was one of the driving forces behind SYN Melbourne - Australia's leading youth media participation project across Radio, TV and online. For three years he served as General Manager and was heavily involved in building it into the successful position it is in today.

Bryce produced and hosted a number of large scale youth television programs including the award winning DAWNS CRACK, PLUCK, SYN TV and SYN CITY for C31 Melbourne. He received national notoriety during his teenage years for being a doco maker on the ABC's RACE AROUND THE CORNER. He was also the front man of the innovative interview series BUSKERAMA and THE ROAMING COUCH on Foxtel.

Bryce has presented radio programs on ABC Radio across Australia, 3RRR, SYN Fm and 3BBB Ballarat. For five years he sat on the national Board of the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia - representing the 300 community radio stations in Australia, and is regularly in demand as a media lecturer and commentator. He is currently employed by ABC Radio as the Coordinator of their HEYWIRE program, a flagship major community project of the ABC which engages young media makers across Australia.

Greg Dee, Executive Producer
Greg Dee

Greg has been involved in the Film and Television industry since he graduated from Swinburne University with a Diploma of Film & Television in the 1970s.

He has supplied television dramas, documentaries, music videos and television commercials to all major networks, including the telemovie RAW SILK for the Nine Network, and the internationally awarded documentary EAST MEETS WEST for ABC-TV, later re-screened on SBS.

He’s also worked in the multi-media industry, building the online university known as WORLD CLASS (now part of Monash University Studies Online) and managing Australia's largest touring road show, Telstra's BUSINESS OF THE FUTURE.

Greg has managed Melbourne’s CHANNEL 31 for the last six years. On Greg's arrival, it was in debt for over $500,000, but under Greg's guidance it now has its own digital play-out facility, spacious CBD premises, a new 10kw transmitter and broadcasts 98 first-run locally made shows every week.

Doug MacLeod, Writer
Doug MacLeod

Doug MacLeod is a Melbourne writer for adults and children and he has worked with most of Australia's top comedians.

After writing many children's books for Penguin and working for ABC Radio's comedy department, Doug spent two years as head writer for Network Ten's THE COMEDY COMPANY and continued to write and produce sketch comedy shows for TV.

As a break from sketch comedy he co-wrote five episodes of SEA CHANGE with Andrew Knight.

For Windmill and Oz Opera (under Richard Gill) he and composer Raffaelo Marcellino adapted Randolph Stow's MIDNITE for the 2004 Melbourne International Arts Festival.

Doug's play, THE CLOCKWORK FOREST, was staged by Brink and The Sydney Theatre Company in 2008, and published as a novel by Penguin in the same year.

Doug created and wrote half the episodes of a 26 part animated series DOGSTAR for Nine and the BBC, and which won him the inaugural John Hinde prize for science fiction in 2008. He is currently working on series two with co-writer Philip Dalkin.

His last young adult novel, I'M BEING STALKED BY A MOONSHADOW (Penguin) was shortlisted for the NSW Premier's Awards in 2007. His next young adult novel, Siggy and Amber (Penguin) is due out in June 2009.

Dave Harford, Assistant Director / Choreographer
Dave Harford

David began his theatre career as a performer in local amateur and school productions before he moved to Ballarat to complete his Bachelor of Arts (Music Theatre) at the University of Ballarat. During this time he played various roles in numerous musicals including the world premiere of IN YOUR DREAMS and THE LABYRINTH.

After his graduation showcase at the Malthouse Theatre, he went on to teach Dance and Drama at Ballarat and Clarendon College until the conclusion of 2006.

During this time he was a VCE Dance assessor and Directed and Choreographed several musicals for BCC. The list includes HONK!, BUGSY MALONE, THE MUSIC MAN, BIG THE MUSICAL, GODSPELL, GREASE (Junior show of the year award - Music Theatre Guild) and WEST SIDE STORY. David had received nominations as Best Choreographer for GREASE and Ballarat Lyric Theatres JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOUR DREAM COAT and in 2007, he was awarded Best Director and Choreographer for his 2007 Production of CATS. CATS went on to receive a record nine awards including, Best Direction, Best Choreography, Best Design, and Show of the Year.

Jack Howard, Music Director
Jack Howard

Jack Howard was inducted into the ARIA Hall-Of-Fame with his old band, Hunters and Collectors, in 2005 (the only trumpeter in the Hall-Of-fame); and along the way, he's performed with Midnight Oil, Pete Murray, The Living End and a host of other acts. He's also released four original CD's of his own since 2000. The latest, MY LUCKY DAY (2007), was described as "one of the great unexpected pleasures of the year".

As well as teaching music at Wesley College these days, Jack continues to rock in 2009 - he was one of the star attractions with H & C at the recent Sound Relief concert, performing to 80,000 punters at the MCG; he's performed with Little Red at the Big Day Out; he's written the Carlton Football Club's anthem for the year, THEY KNOW WE'RE COMING; and now he's back in the business of show, musical directing CALL GIRL THE MUSICAL at Chapel-Off-Chapel."

Adrian Peter Clarke, Costume Designer

Adrian has over 20 years experience in the Theatrical, Film and Television industries and has worked in Australia, the United States, Canada and Japan in various capacities - as designer, costumer or consultant.

Initially employed and trained by the Production Division of the AUSTRALIAN BALLET, in the six and half years he spent there he moved from Junior Machinist, to Assistant Cutter, and was eventually put in charge of all men’s costumes.

Working closely with designers, he was able to put into practice all his talents and training, and gained invaluable experience and knowledge of costumes and their manufacture.

In 1991, Adrian was offered a residency with the LOS ANGELES CLASSICAL BALLET as Costume Designer. While working in Los Angeles he also became involved with other local companies and eventually travelled to San Francisco, New York and other US cities to further opportunities in design and production. 

He has worked on the films NED KELLY (2003) shot in Australia with Heath Ledger, and Disney’s WHEN SOMETHING EVIL COMES YOUR WAY (1992)
shot in Los Angeles and Massachusetts; television mini-series including NOAH’S ARK (1999) with Jon Voight, and HERCULES (2005) with Timothy Dalton; and local television series such as BLUE HEELERS, SCOOTER: SECRET AGENT and the 2005 Network Ten telemovie THE INCREDIBLE JOURNEY OF MARY BRYANT.

Adrian has worked for the AUSTRALIAN BALLET, LOS ANGELES CLASSICAL BALLET, EAST/ WEST PLAYERS (L.A.), DANCE EXPRESS COMPANY (NY), TOYOTA CITY BALLET (Japan), the SYDNEY THEATRE COMPANY and Melbourne’s LA MAMA Theatre on a number of their shows including THE GOVERNOR’S FAMILY and THE CENTRE OF LIGHT.

In demand for Special Events and Festivals, he has designed and consulted for the MELBOURNE EARLY MUSIC FESTIVAL, WALT DISNEY SPECIAL EVENTS, THE MELBOURNE GRAND PRIX and the FORD EXPO, and cabaret shows including BJORN AGAIN, BABBA, REFLECTIONS OF… and  MIDNIGHT MAGIC at Jupiter’s Casino.

Most recently he designed the costumes for The Shift Theatre Company’s 2009 Melbourne inaugural stage production TWO SISTERS AND A PIANO.

Adrian is the founding director of LOCAD - Library of Costume and Design, and has contributed to costume interpretive programs at THE MANSION AT WERRIBEE PARK, FLAGSTAFF HILL MARITIME MUSEUM in Warrnambool, the PIONEER SETTLEMENT & MUSEUM in Swan Hill, and the LIGHTHOUSE MUSEUM in Los Angeles.
